St. Paul's Church, Honiton

Located in the heart and centre of Honiton's High Street, St Paul's Church serves the whole town and community of Honiton. The doors remain open during daylight hours welcoming guests to pray, partake of the many activities or simply visit and take in the history of the building .Each week, the church hosts coffee mornings on Tuesdays and Saturdays to coincide with the town's (street) market. The church also holds weekly Sunday services as well as special services designed to be 'less formal' for the younger congregation within the church.
St Paul's Church was built in 1835 and was consecrated by the Bishop of Exeter in 1838. The addition of the clock on the front of the tower was added in 1851. The tower itself holds eight bells in total. The bells ring out additionally on special occasions apart from regular practices – these include many of the weddings held within the parish church.
Since the church was first built, there have been a total of three pipe organs accommodated. The present organ was installed in 1999 after much fund raising over 7 years, which, realised circa £150,00.00. The organ was commissioned just before the turn of this century and has to be heard to be fully appreciated.
St. Paul's Church continues to lead and participate in various activities that occur within the town and its sister parishes throughout the year. The church is involved in and responsible for contributing to, local causes, organising and running numerous events within the town, including Honiton Festival, 'Shelter for the Homeless' and music concerts to name but a few.
