PAUL SHOOBRIDGE

Company Director

Paul joined Penny and Terry (mum and dad) on a full-time basis in April 2011. Building upon Shoobridge’s success, Paul expanded the family business offering funeral services to the local communities in both Exeter and Exmouth.

Paul strives for perfection and puts himself in the clients’ shoes. He regularly goes above and beyond to help and gently guide those recently bereaved to create a truly meaningful and personal service.

Paul says: “Following the initial meeting, families often make references such as; ‘I don’t know how you do your job’ as making the funeral arrangements and talking about their loved one is a raw and very emotional time. My reply is always the same: “It’s all about the families that I represent and how they often share their personal stories and the depth of intimate memories, in order to create the most reflective ‘farewell’. These special and unique moments

would never normally be mentioned in such a way. It is an honour to be entrusted with such a special responsibility.”

Paul in three words: “Attentive, compassionate and driven.”

In Paul’s free time, he enjoys family life, cooking, golf, motorcycles, football, music, and skiing.

PENNY SHOOBRIDGE

Funeral Director

Penny and Terry, her ex-husband, started Shoobridge Funeral Services in 1993. Penny manages the Honiton branch. With more than 30 years' experience in caring for families and directing funerals, Penny is a kind, compassionate person with a deep love for people and animals.

She says: “The most rewarding part of my job is helping people through a really difficult time. No two families are ever the same. I love building relationships so that we can give families and their loved ones the very best care.”

Penny in three words: ‘Caring, approachable, dedicated.”

Away from work, Penny loves catching up with friends and looking after her gorgeously fluffy house cat, Clyde.

TERRY SHOOBRIDGE

Funeral Director

Currently working from Canada, Terry has brought the company forward with foresight and vision regarding the UK and International funeral business. Taking a lead in advancement, his focus for Shoobridge Funeral Services has been at times, ‘ground-breaking’ whilst keeping the customer as the only priority. With bereavement care firmly in place, “Our doors are always open” is a common theme, principle and mantra which has promoted many friendships which have survived the passage of time. “Tradition is as important as keeping pace with modern trends, and maintaining a balance is both vital for ourselves and our many clients. Every consideration is addressed with enthusiasm so that each of our customers feels important and receives a bespoke funeral which is part of their journey forward – a memory worthy of the importance and love of their relative, colleague, friend or family member.”

In Canada, Terry volunteers for Vernon Search and Rescue, often being called to an emergency, to search for or to help people in life-threatening situation and conditions. He devotes time to helping the ‘new recruits’ settle in and making them feel welcome before initiating the vigorous training and ongoing development programme.

When home in Devon, Terry jumps straight back in and helps the Shoobridge team, delivering a first-class service to its local and wider community.

SHOOBRIDGE FUNERAL SERVICES

Why choose an independent funeral director?

At Shoobridge Funeral Services, it is an important part of our ethos to carry on the family tradition-

it is a way of life for us.

Funeral Directors Honiton

We are part of your local community

Here at Shoobridge Funeral Services, we have a long and proud history of offering a caring and personal service to our local and wider community. We regularly support local people, local businesses, local and national charities, churches, and other local organisations.

What's in the name?

When it comes to business today, it is more often than not the case that big, international companies have made their profits through buying out and/or taking over the smaller, local firms. The funeral profession is no exception and many local funeral directors have been bought out by larger conglomerates.

Serving East Devon and the wider community, Shoobridge Funeral Services is proud to remain a local, family-run firm, who have supported families in the local area for several decades.

Any questions?

Just Ask

When arranging a funeral for your loved one, it is important that you are fully aware of who you are speaking to – your local independent funeral director, or simply another conglomerate trading under the original business name.

Based on our own experience, when you are seeking the services of a funeral director, it is important to choose a local firm who have invested in your local community and one which has been established for many years.

Our focus is on your individual requirements

When you arrange a funeral with Shoobridge Funeral Services, you can rest assured all our attention will be concentrated solely on satisfying your, and your late family member's needs. We are not constrained to the guidelines handed down from head office or shareholders and will wholeheartedly offer you a friendly, flexible ,and reliable funeral service to suit your individual requirements.

Personal pride in all that we offer

Funeral service is our business. Our neighborhood is your neighborhood At Shoobridge Funeral Services, we take great pride in our funeral home and our fleet of dedicated vehicles. We are also very proud of our staff and our investment in their ongoing training.

We are pleased to congratulate Paul on completing his Diploma in Funeral Service Professional Qualification in late 2015, presented by the British Institute of Funeral Directors as well as the prestigious 'Ashes into Glass Award', celebrating his highest scoring results.

Longevity across the years

Here at Shoobridge Funeral Services, our experienced and friendly team not only seek to meet your current individual needs and requirements but also seek to build a long-standing relationship of trust so that you and your family will return to us in the future.

We strive for a long-term commitment to our local community. East Devon is where we live and work and it is where we plan to stay. When you need us, our friendly team will be here for you.

Around 55% of all funerals throughout the country are arranged by local, independent family funeral directors.

As local, family-run funeral directors, we are proud to say that an independent family-owned and run funeral director was chosen to arrange the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, along with many other, cherished members of the Royal Family. The monarchy's decision to choose an independent funeral director over a larger chain supports the idea that such methods are sympathetic and hold true meaning when it comes to losing a loved one.

The dedicated team at Shoobridge Funeral Services strongly believes in this ethos and as such, stands by our view that compassionate, locally owned, and managed funeral homes significantly outweigh the benefits of opting for a large, faceless chain.
