Family-run Shoobridge Funeral Services is supporting ‘Let’s Talk About Direct Cremation’, an awareness campaign to help bereaved families understand funeral options better.
There is growing concern that ‘no fuss’ funerals – also known as Direct or Pure Cremations – do not give families the send-off they expected and, for those left behind, there are growing numbers reporting regret that they didn’t get a chance to say goodbye.
As your fully licensed, local and family-owned funeral director we feel it is important that you are aware of exactly what a Direct Cremation entails.
A standalone Direct Cremation, as you might see advertised on TV, has no service for family or friends at all.
It is quite simply the removal of your loved one, followed by the return of the cremated remains some weeks later.
It is often the case that your loved one is transported to a central cremation hub, far from their home.
We do offer Direct Cremation but, unlike many of the companies advertised on TV, we will look after your loved one locally and continue to offer the additional services you have come to expect from us.
