St. Michael and All Angels Church, Awliscombe

The Church of St. Michael and All Angels is situated in the village of Awliscombe, approximately 2 miles from Honiton, on the road towards Cullompton. The church is extremely important and organises a range of local events from meetings of the local singing group to visiting artist concerts.
The church itself is comprised of a chancel, a nave, a south transept, a western tower with five bells within, a north aisle that is divided from the nave by four arch ways, as well as a south facing porch with two entrances.
The church and local parish minister, have close associations with Awliscombe Church of England Primary School, holding collective worship at the start and end of each week in the church and the remainder of the week, in the school. The minister and support staff, work closely with the children, teachers and parents to provide pastoral assistance and guidance.
The parish of Awliscombe also encompasses the hamlet of Weston. The church is located within a half an acre of 'active' churchyard and the building itself dates back to the medieval period. The church can seat up to 200 people with a 'visitor' car parking facility for 30 cars.
The church continues to hold regular prayer and worship services on Sundays. Special events are encouraged within the community and typically take place around Easter and Christmas with a special, 'Carol and Thanksgiving Service' annually in December.
With a variety of local people attending the weekly services, 'fresh faces' are always welcomed warmly and encouraged to share not only in the time of worship, but also in the community and events.
