SHOOBRIDGE FUNERAL SERVICES
St. Nicholas Church, Dunkeswell
"We work with local church administrators to create personal and caring funeral arrangements
for the deceased and their loved ones."
Located in Dunkeswell, just outside of Honiton, St. Nicholas Church has a parish boundary encompassing homes in the village and the surrounding areas. The total parish population consists of more than 1600 people and ministry travel supporting parishioners is extensive.
The current church was built between 1865 and1868 and had been preceded by at least three other churches on the site. Dunkeswell's St. Nicholas Church operates regular Sunday worship and praise services as well as hosting joint Bible-study groups and quarterly, United Worship Services with the Methodist Chapel that is also located nearby.
St. Nicholas Church, recently started a 'Sunday School.' This is mainly attended by children of six years of age and under. As well as the 'Sunday School,' members of the church are involved in the local 'pre-school' providing Bible stories and early, religious education.
With numerous venues in Dunkeswell for social occasions, the church is used solely for religious occasions and has services lead by five teams of lay people. They currently want to create a 'Lay, Pastoral Team' – hopefully, this will be realised in the near future.
If you wish to be informed and keep up-to-date with current services and events, notices are placed in the local parish magazine as well as on the church notice board – this is located outside, at the front of the church.
St. Nicholas Church welcomes new members especially from the surrounding area; members and parishioners, seek to encourage those who reside locally to become involved in church activities and community events.
