SHOOBRIDGE FUNERAL SERVICES

"We work with local church administrators to create personal and caring funeral arrangements
for the deceased and their loved ones."

The Church of St. John the Baptist, Yarcombe, was originally built in the fifteenth century then later restored in 1889-1891 at which time the chancel was rebuilt. St. John the Baptist Church was constructed using materials sourced from the local area and consists of a south and north aisle, a west tower, and an organ, as well as the nineteenth century addition of the chancel.
Based in the village of Yarcombe, the church serves the local parish of Yarcombe and the hamlet of Marsh and works with the local Baptist Chapel to provide Sunday services. The chapel, although more of a recent addition to the village, has been in the village for over one hundred and eighty years. As part of Yarcombe village, the Church is found in an Area of Outstanding Beauty and is near the local village hall, The Yarcombe Inn along with The Belfry Hotel.
St. John the Baptist Church is part of the Five Alive Mission Community, which consists of churches in Dalwood, Kilmington, Shute, Whitford and Yarcombe. The church and the churchyard is taken care of by the local community, with a team of dedicated volunteers who care for maintenance and flowers.
The church receives a small regular congregation to the services held within St. John the Baptist Church, with more individuals attending the Family Services. The church sees a peak in attendance during the year at special celebrations for Harvest, Remembrance Sunday, Easter, and the annual Carol Service within the church brings over 200 people from the local area into attendance.
