For all infant, unexpected and sudden deaths within Exeter and the Greater Devon District, Her Majesty's Coroner (HM Coroner) will be involved.

An honest and personal approach
There are numerous situations surrounding deaths that occur without warning. From fatal accidents to violent crime, mostly, 'we' are 'spared' the experience.
When such a death occurs, the circumstances, the timing and the location are factors we may not usually consider. That a Coroner or Medical Examiner will be involved is a certainty. That 'unusual' or abnormal procedures will follow is also, factual.
On occasions, doctors are not in a position to categorically define the 'Medical Cause of Death.' In nearly all of these circumstances, a post mortem examination (autopsy) of the body, is mandatory.
